2019 KLX250 Inconsistent clicking sound from inside engine

I bought this 2019 KLX 250 w/ 1400mi last year. After getting it home I realized the oil was overfull so I did a change but found that it was full of gas! I replaceded the fuel injector which seems to have resolved that issue however on my last ride my friend noticed a clicking sound coming from the engine. Almost like something catching or smacking. We were able to catch it faintly on video. Its not consistent and we only noticed it when reving.
Other minor bike quirks is sometimes if you go wide open throttle it feels bogged down but then “opens up” and sometimes if you blip the throttle to little the engine will cut out.
Thoughts?

I'd try a cam chain tensioner first before tearing it down. The stock one is spring loaded. Alot of folks go with a manual tensioner but i prefer the stocker just have an extra one handy. Yeah fuel in oil is bad. Hopefully wasn't run long with it that way. Best of luck

If the clicking is noticeable around 4000-6000 rpm it is very likely the cam chain tensioner is starting to fail. Not an unusual occurrence with the KLXs, including even the newest 300s. It is a mechanical design issue that I've described in other posts here and in the ADVrider forum. I was contacted back in 2009 by one of he members here to make a manual replacement, which I did with his help. It has been my top seller since then. Both my brother and I use them in our KLX250s. Beauty of the manual tensioner is that once adjusted, it will hold the setting. They seldom need any adjustment and when they do it is minimal and relatively easy.
You can contact me by PM if you decide you want to pick one up, they are $39.00 usd, shipping depends on where it is being sent. I do have them world wide. If you want to see what riders say, do a search for Krieger Cam Chain Tensioner. You will find my site as well, along with some install videos from people who have used it.
