2018 klx250 larger fuel tank

I think Clarke is a smaller company so, the community might have better luck getting them to do a special run. IMS makes good stuff too but I get the impression it is more of a corporate entity with less passion for our sport, at least for smaller volumes.
The Clarke 2.7G on my 2007 KLX-250S has worked well for me for what, ~14 years now?

I've had Clarke tanks as well. I put the 3.9 on all 3 of my, now gone, DRZ's. I never really thought about the bigger vs smaller company as how it might relate to getting one or the other to come up with a new product, Sounds logical though.
Since this "campaign", if you want to call it that, has already been started with ims I would encourage anyone wanting a new tank to email or call ims. When I spoke with them last week they did say that they were starting to get requests for a larger tank for the KLX's.
It was mentioned on one of the other sites that a group of WR250r owners were what motivated ims to make something larger for the Yamaha's.
Bottom line, ims or Clarke are generally only aware of the need for a new product when consumers start reaching out to them.
Again, reach out to ims. It only takes a few minutes. If they decide that it's not in their interest then maybe an effort could be made to try and get Clarke interested.
Never hurts to ask.

Had the Acerbis on my 06 KLX that I bought when they first came out. 2013 bought a slightly used 07 and put the same tank on it. And yes that and the IMS are a little more pricey than the Clarke.

IMS wrote me back, this was their reply:
While we are still checking fitment on the 300, we do have a tank already for the EFI 250.
See the link below and you can purchase at your leisure.

Thanks,

So we can confirm that IMS is at the very least examining the 300 for a future tank product.

That will be the first thing they do. That way they will know what all they are getting involved with. It will actually be good news if they can confirm the 2.7 fits on the 300. That would be a huge step forward towards design of the larger tank.

I sent IMS another email yesterday. This is their reply.
We’re currently taking a look at our 2.7g tank and we’ll be testing it soon to see if it’ll also work on those new KLX300 models. I spoke with my manager earlier this week though and let him know that a lot of riders were calling in and requesting something closer to the 3.0g – 3.5g range. I suggest checking back with me in another month or two, and I should have a much better update for you at that time. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
Thank you,

For anyone that hasn't already, notify them if you are interested in a larger fuel tank.

Bad news from Clarke and IMS for a larger tank.
IMS has nothing planned for the KLX at least through the end of this year.
When I talked with Clarke they said it would take a commitment of at least 100 to even consider it.

The molds for a new tank would be really expensive for a small run. Add COVID-related supply chain issues further adding expense and complications to getting affordable molds from China.
