I don't believe that is the punch bowl, that is Emerald lake. When you came off of Washington Gulch and turned right over Schofield Pass heading East towards Crested Butte that takes you to Emerald Lake and the snowfield you crosssed. If you had turned left and headed towards Marble to would have gone done a very evil road towards the devils punchbowl.

Take a look at this guy's ride report - he did it accidentally, lol.

I have no doubt you could have done it though. Me on the other hand, no fricken thank you.

EMS, I think the official Devil's Punchbowl is that horribly rocky ledge area and twisty section with the creek flowing right beside it. I don't have a pic handy. It's on the west side of Schofield and to the east of Crystal Mill.

How'd you get your bikes out there? Did one of your guys trailer them out or something and the rest of you fly? I'd hate to burn those precious vacation days on the freeway out and back.

Looks like a great trip, I'd love to ride there some time.

4 of us drove out in that, one guy was already out there with his bike and his sons bike, so then his son flew out. It was the 6 of us the first week. The second week one guy that drove out with us flew home and that guys son that flew out the first week flew back home, but 6 more guys drove out with 2 more trucks and 6 bikes. It was pretty crazy.

Wow!!!!!! That makes epic look like a walk in the park. I'll add this to the ride reports next week when I get back.

Im jealous! I didnt get to do my yearly Colorado trip this yr! I'd love to take my KLX out there. I love exploring the old mines and ghost towns. What towns were you by? I might have to try your trip next time I go out there.

For week 1 we stayed in Ouray, i liked it more than Crested Butte, our house was in Crested Butte South actually. CB was the second week. CB had more tight single track, but Ouray was more scenic i liked the town better. They liked bikers, the people in town waved it was "comfortable" CB was a yuppie ski town that it just felt like everyone didnt want us there. I would like to go back to Ouray...

Yer pics are just makin me want to go back there even more! I would love to move there someday. So much more to do than here in KS. Plus Colorado has bigger hills than KS hahaha. You have any other recommendations on places to visit ghost towns and mines?? I've been to Tin Cup/St Elmo area. Been to Saint Isabelle Forest too. I want to go back to Saint Elmo and finish where we left off there. I want to visit Mary Murphy mine for sure!
