2010 model best?

Ahh, yeah, it'd be a good idea - but they are so cheap (compared to the others) that it's not really something you need to budget for. I am using a twinair filter, but Uni filters are also good I believe.
I have the FMF Powercore 4 and it significantly raises the noise. I believe the FMF Q4 is the quieter version of my pipe. Without much experience I cannot give you and authoritative answer. I can give you some of my own observations though.
When I am cruising along and the engine isn't working hard, the bike doesn't make much noise at all. When you are making the motor work though - accelerating away and when riding up hills - the volume goes up quite a bit. It is especially bad when you are around 3000rpm and open up the throttle. I've found it better to drop a gear so the revs hit the 4000-4500 rpm range before openning the throttle so as to keep the noise down and get better performance.
If you take the airbox lid off like I have, the bike noise goes up quite a bit too. In fact, when the bike is making lot of noise I reckon ore is coming from the airbox than the muffler at times!
Before I did the dynojet + FMF Powercore 4 + Twinair filter with airbox lid off + 13 tooth front sprocket I was getting about 130 to 140km on the tank before going to reserve. Since doing those mods I am getting about 120 to 125km's on the tank. BUT... with those mods I am riding the bike a lot harder and so am probably using more fuel coz of that as much as coz of the mods

No worries. I am just getting back into it after several years break, so I've just been rediscovering it and it's fresh in my mind. The more experienced guys in this forum (of which there are MANY) were very patient and good with me, so if I can save them a bit of repetition it's the least I can do
Now it's your turn to pay it forward

From what I understand there never was an 08 model. The bikes made for the 08 year were labled 09's I have an 09 model KLX that was MFR in 2008.
I belive the 06/07 KLX models were very simular to 09 but did have about 1" more travel in the forks.
I would recomend gettin a good used bike or getting a leftover new 2009 if you can find a deal.
Cheers Jim
