2009 KLX250S Problems?
I purchased my 09’ KLX250S on June 30th, I’ve had it 25 days and it’s been in the shop twice.
Problem #1: A “pin” in the shifting linkage broke and wouldn’t allow me to shift from second to third gear. The dealership had to special order the pin and she spent 2 days in the shop.
Problem #2: Light turns green, I hit the gas and the bike bogged down. I switched the bike to the reserve tank, and it started right up…only to bog down again 10 seconds later. Pushed the bike home (at least I was only a half mile from home). Bike will start w/ choke out and idle just fine. Give it gas and she dies. Push the choke in and she dies. It can’t be water in the fuel cause I filled it all the way up and have half a tank left, she would have bogged immediately…so I suppose.
Is anyone else having any issues with their bike?
Any clue as to what’s causing problem # 2?

My only thought about number two... did you overfill the tank? There's a vent hose at the top of the gas tank, and if you overfill the tank and get gas in it, the bike won't run right. That's all I got for #2
As for number 1, I've had my bike since June 19th, I've got 700 miles on it, including lots of trail miles and several missed shifts in my boots, never had a problem with the shifter.

I fill up all the way all the time...... 2 days in the shop....pfft... try 4 months in the shop.....
There seems to be carby problems with the 09's, spend the 60$ and rejet it. it will run lots better.

Same problem with cutting out
I topped mine of with gas last night and she kept cutting out every time I gave her gas this morning. The problem was exasperated as the engine was also cold! When she got warmed up it ran fine.
Do you guys leave the choke out and let the bike run for a few minutes at about 3,800 rpm or do you let it idle for several minutes to warm the bike? My motorcycle in the safety course (Suzuki 250) had a sliding choke. Not OFF or ON like this bike. That made it easy as the bike warmed. Do you guys use regular gas or a premium sometimes? I have the 2009 also.
Thank you.

leave the choke on for a bit until the bike will idle without it but push it in as the bike warms to keep the rpm's under 2000 or so. without a jet kit in there it will take longer but no so much that you can't stay close to the bike to keep adjusting the choke in as it warms.

I'm a dual sport/dirt bike virgin (and not very experienced w/ motorcycles period). I pull the choke to start it and about 10 seconds later push it in and take off...from reading ya'lls posts, I should let it run a few minutes, relieve the choke. Mistake #1.
Yes I do fill it up all the way and the last two times I've filled it up it's filled over just a tad. Mistake #2.
I use regular gas.
Love the bike though!
