2009 klx250 no start. is it crap?

The dry carb method works. I had a 2009 250s. I also have a KLX650c that requires this same method. CVK40 carb I believe. I think the T-fuel mod helps with this but I haven't done it. Stabil or Sea Foam or something similar will help. Battery tender is a must. Choke lever is also a must. If you have a hill, bump starting it helps to not kill the battery. It was super cold out here in TX an I forgot to drain the carb, but I have had the bike on a battery tender. Tomorrow is the moment of truth. You can be damn sure I'll be draining the carb and adding stabil to the fuel in the tank before pressing that starter button!

lol...it was the beer that did the trick!.....anyway,i think you will find that if you just pull out the choke as you start,,( crank)...lol,,it will fire right up...i allways leave my gas on also. good luck..

Got home last night and turned the petcock on, tuned on ignition, hit starter switch, and slowley pulled the choke out. Ignition-blastoff. Turned it off, will try tonight since I left the petcock open and see if the slow opening of the choke works. Thanks to all for the advice.

Use the choke, it's there for a reason! I think that the US 09 250s has some issues though. It ALWAYS needed choke if it was cooled down. Even in 105 degree heat.

Forgot to post my findings but here it is. With the petcock left on, the bike was slow to start at 50 degrees F. Took over a minute but slowly pulling the choke out seemed to help. I have resolved my situation for the most part. Got off my lazy butt and cleaned out half of the basement with the help of a few cold ones. The cold ones made it easier to throw out some suff I had been saving for some reason. Now it won't have to sit in the cold carport. I can roll it outside and hopefully it will start easier. I think that running the carb out of gas is the fix. I just wish Kaw would address the problem. Hopefully ,now that I have a warm place to work on it for the next few months I can put a jet ket in and resolve this issue maybe. I wonder if 09'Kawi250s response above is because of elevation, temp, or the Dyno kit? Thanks for the help guys !!

I own an 09' 250s also and just had the same problems everyone else is having, after the bike sits for an extended time it wont start. By turning the petcock OFF and running it till it stalls, always seems to work. No more cranking my ***** off.

Mine starts with minimal problems. I turn the fuel on, lean the bike till the bars almost touch the ground and fuel runs out of the overflow tube. Stand it back up, pull the choke and mine starts up every time. All bikes are a little different, this wirks for mine.

ya but still its a dirtbike theres not much to these things.. you shouldnt have to lean your bike over to get it to start. my friend matt has one and it runs great. my friend nick had one but he ran into the back of a van at 50 and killed himself in october of 09'.. that really sucked. but his ran great too. i dont understand what the problem is that you guys are having.. must flood really easy??
