Thanks. Yes, the stock side plate fits over.
You can see the front lower tank bracket that will hold the plate outward at the lower bolt position. The inner tank bracket bolts to the original side plate position.
All together the tank has 4 bolts attaching it, with a 5th at the side plate.

I bet it wont work with 09' fuel injection bike?? if not could it be made to work?
Because this tank is a simple unpressurized, gravity feed system, no, I don't think so.
It could be used as a refill tank to the original tank I guess. A small hand crank transfer pump perhaps. If someone with an FI bike wants to use it in that manner, they could. Hook up your pump via a hose to the petcock, turn it on, and crank away.

do know it it will still work having a nomadic rack (the top mounting point seems to be at more of an angle now, but it could be that the picture is deceiving)?

If you are asking if the 2009 tank will work with luggage, I don't know. The only luggage I've verified are the DirtBagz system will work on the 2007. Bill Blue has that combination on his bike.

The brackets are completely different from the '07 compared to the '09. Same tank, different attachment system.

Ok I'm still confused Bake, that profile is wider than stock right? do you have a picture of the bike with the tank and the plate back on?

no, what i was talking about was the rack fitting itself. it bolts to what looks like the same spot that the tank bolts to (i.e. the seat bolt). But the flange on the tank looks like it is at an angle, not flush. So i was wondering if I have that tank, will my rack still be bolted on as sturdy.

Looks good. I wonder what would happen if the battery treminals somehow arced against the tank, being they're so close.

There are all kinds of 12v wire running under your stock tank, = same scenario. If you were too worried about it you could cover that side of the aux tank with something non conductive.

Wink Aux Tank

Do you have any photos with the side cover and the rear rack all back in place on a 06-7 KLX? Nice quality fabricating.
