2009 KLX 250sf
Hello all, I have been searching on and off for months, and have spent the last two days searching trying not to add a post, but it seems that the 2009 model is a different animal than previous years. I have several questions.
1. What is the Honda exhaust swap and what parts are involved? If the klx300 exhaust is a better option, what year for the 2009 model?
2. Does the 2009 require the carb slide drill?
Thank you all for your help.

Not a 2009 owner, but....
I don't recall a Honda exhaust mod being mentioned, but I'm interested in hearing more.

Help us out. What are you trying to do with the exhaust? Maximize performance? Increase performance but keep the noise to a minimum? Or something else.
You have a few options on a dynojet kit for the 2009. The #2206 model (designated for the KLX300, but works in the 2006+) instructs to drill the slider. No biggie; it's easy to do, and easy to fill in if you don't like the result. Not sure about what the other dynojet kits call for. There instructions are available for your review.
Dynojet Research Inc.- Power Commander, Automotive Dynamometers, Motorcycle Dynamometers, ATV Dynamometers, Jetkits, Wideband Commander, Wideband Commander 2, WB2

Hey IDRIDR, thanks for posting. I manage a ranch in Texas so noise is not a problem for me. I'm simply wanting more power as I am a big dude with short legs. I am going to do the intake box and jets, and want to do the klx300 exhaust swap. I'm not sure what year klx300 exhaust will fit my bike. I think the idle screw will give me a lot of what i'm looking for as she bogs down taking off. I'm all ears, so don't be afraid to tell me something I don't know. Thanks again.

Any year KLX300 exhaust will fit (if it's an OEM exhaust, you need the complete system).

Keep in mind the 300 exhaust still uses the same size header as the 250. The new opened up muffler will help, but you won't see the kind of increases that you would if you replaced the whole system with something more free flowing.

Thanks for the welcome. I just purchased the header/exhaust off an '01 that looked pretty clean. Depending how open the can is, I'll see what comes of it. Going to turn the pilot out when it quits raining. I'll do the airbox/snorkel while I'm waiting on the pipe and get the needle for a 300 as well.

I'd read the accolades of the 300's exhaust, I went with that before you tried to talk me out of it. If it is that bad, I guess I should get a power bomb header or cut the pipe and make it myself. Thanks again.
