At first I just had the FMF on and everything was fine. However, once I put in the K&N air filter and KDX snorkel I was running too lean. So I put electrical tape over part of the opening of the snorkel to restrict the air flow until i could rejet. Once I did it I removed the tape and it ran/runs like a champ.

 

Is the KDX 200 snorkle a direct replacement or do you have to do some modifications to make it fit to the stock air box? Where can I get my hands on a KDX 200 snorkle and how much is going to set me back? Also, how hard is it to change out the needle jet and is there any place on the carb that I will need to drill out?

 

KDX snorkel is a PERFECT FIT! No mods necessary. Should cost under $30 shipped. Available at your dealer, or online. Online sellers don't discount it much... I would have bought it locally *IF* they had one in stock. 1993 KDX200 snorkel. Part number is around here somewhere... do a search.

Needle jet is kinda a pain. Read up on it first, and be ready to do it quickly. The diaphragm expands quickly... need to toss it in a cup of hot water to slow it down. Gotta remove (at minimum) the seat, side panels and fuel tank to get at it.

 

If you mess with air flow - rejet. Any time you make a significant change, you will likely have to re-jet it.

I would HIGHLY recommend the Dynojet kit. I emailed them for settings specific to my altitude. They hit it PERFECT first try. Then, when I added a pipe, I emailed them again because it was sluggish in the mid range. Again, they emailed me back with the PERFECT setup. IMO, you cannot pay too much for that kind of support.

 

Does anyone have pics and the step by step instructions for installing the jets in the carb? BTW, what year KDX 200 snorkle will fit a 2009 KLX 250s?

I never found any step-by-step instructions when I did mine. Only bits and pieces. The hardest part is going to be removing your carb. The rejetting itself is easy and takes only minutes to do. I took my carb out after work one evening (couple of hours) and did the rejet the following morning. Putting the carb back in and buttoning everything up took half the time it took to remove it. Take notes and pictures as you go.
