Hehe thanks man! I'll tell my girlfriend. I'm sure she'll appreciate the compliment.

Yeah I don't really have an issue with the swingarm except for the fact that it looks like someting from the stoneage. I didn't know about the stronger spokes. That's definitely something I would want. I wonder why they put the stronger spokes on a machine that is less dirt orientated?--FM Thumper
My guess on the spokes is weight. I wonder if the KLX300 has the same size spokes as the '06-'07 250 models? The 250S is slightly heavier and has provisions for a passenger. I'm sure the KLX300 was never intended for that. I'll bet the 250's '06-'07 spokes are fine if you don't ride double to any degree.

I think you'd be happy with either type, but with your height you might want the 06/07. I, personally, think the 09/10 looks awesome with it's extra cool front headlight, fender, and rear fender (when you get the tail appendectomy kit installed). But that's just asthetics and personal choice. I like the '09 only because I have one!

Tyre pressure has more bearing on wheel strength than the spokes in this instance. Yes the 09 bikes are bigger, but as a consequence are heavier. Heavy is bad on sports machinery. The 300 bikes wheels are far from light though. (See Talon/Excel combo.)
Run your tyres at 30 psi and you could run 2 up all day without any issues at all on either bike.
They also put cheaper brakes on the 09.
Lighter spokes are in fact more expensive (09 gets the cheaper option again). Any cyclist will confirm this, although motorbikes aren't into using butted spokes yet as the loads are IMO too high. But they are using lighter more expensive materials for comp' bikes across the board.
