RE: 2008 KLX250
not likely. just be thankful they are giving us the 450. although the 250 needs a major update, it's a profit bike and therefore probably won't see any major updating. the dual-sport "S" is "new", so that in Kawasaki's eyes is a new model. to the 250's credit though, it really is the only real dirt bike in the class that's street legal. the only real thing close is the Husqvarna TE250, but that's in another class. it's a sweet bike, but hardly attainable.

I hope they don't update the 250 anytime soon. Bulletproof motor, good frame, inverted forks. It's low on power, but that is easily upgraded. And the longer it is around, the easier and cheaper it is to get parts.

The KLX250s has been available in Aus for quite a few years (at least 4) in its current form, over here they have the WR250/450F & CRF250/450X street legal so I would think Kawasaki would want to meet the market with their KLX250 to match their KLX450. I know for the tougher US regulations the bikes may not be able to comply so maybe they would keep the existing model also?

The difference in the klx and the husky/ktm's is the kawasaki is marketed as a dualsport motor cycle, which is what it is. The Husky/ktm's are marketed as a competition machines that are also street legal, which they are. I would expect to see a kx250f based enduro to replace the klx300 very soon, but I also expect to see no major changes the the klx250s anywhere in the near future. I also don't doubt that when a new klx250 comes out that the name of the klx250s doesn't change back to the klr250.
