2007 KLX 300 Carb Help
So I bought a used 2007 KLX 300. The guy said it "needed a new carb but the KLF 300 carb (which is 50 bucks) would work".... Took his word and it is not nearly the same.
However he said he put a KLX 250s carb on it but thought it was the wrong one. Doing some reading some says the carb will work others say no.
So my question is can I use the KLX 250s Carb (that the bike came with) after some jet work?
And any jet kits you would recommend?
Btw i would love a pumper carb but i really don't want to shell out $300..and then me mess up the instillation.
Please Help!!!

OP, the KLX 250 and 300 use the same basic CVK34 carb. They might not share the exact same part number due to some minor linkage or choke difference, but the carb off of either bike should work fine on either bike once jetting is sorted out. Frankly, the jetting shouldn't even be that different, but you'll probably encounter some subtle differences that need tweaking. Heck, even the stock carb on a KLX250 on a stock KLX250 usually needs a little tweaking to get optimum performance...especially if you have any airbox mods or aftermarket exhaust, etc.
My KLX250 carb worked fine when I installed a KLX300 top end with only very minor jetting tweaks. To be honest, I never really liked the CVK34 on my 250 when it was a 250 or a 300. It seems overly sensitive to altitude changes, especially when you consider it's a diaphragm carb. I had the CVK40 on 4 different KLR600/650's, and those carbs worked amazingly well and were very forgiving at altitude. Surprisingly to me, my 36mm Mikuni pumper carb is way less sensitive to altitude changes.

When I got into my box with spare parts to get the carb, I found that I had two CVK34 carbs so I have a second one that I'm willing to sell
$35 plus shipping CONUS only. Will put on eBay if no responses
