2006 klx250s
Hi,
I've been lurking for awhile and this is my first post. I have a 2006 KLX250S, purchased used about one year ago with about 3k miles. I've done some off-roading and short road trips. I have never seen the radiator cooling fan come on. The only thing that I've found in the forums relative to this is that the fan rarerly comes on. However, I want to be certain that that it does function.
Is there a procedure to test the fan and thermostat (or whatever is to switch it on)?
Thanks,
Geoff

Welcome to the forums. Mine only came on one time in 100 degree weather on a single track trail going real slow. If you want to make sure its working just let the bike run in the driveway and pull up a chair, cause it might take a while.

Welcome to the forum. And great selection on you KLX. 2006 - best year and best color!
Ride really slow up a steep climb, first gear, on a hot day.
I've seen the diagnostic testing procedure posted up here a few times before. Maybe someone will re-post, or search around. Did you check here?

None of my forum searches produced anything but I will look at that link you had sent.

For whatever reason almost every forum I am a member of 3 letter searches don't fly. Someone smarter than me may know the answer.
You can always do the dumb down search in google as in:

Here is the best way to search the forum:
1. Go to Google.com
2. Type this into the search box:
site:https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum/klx-250s-71/ keyword you are searching for here
Type it exactly as above, replacing whatever you are searching for where I have written keyword you are searching for here.
For example,

Click the above link and you will see what I'm talking about.

Your fan works, carry on.
If it didn't work, and you got to the boiling point, your red temperature warning light would come on even before it got hot enough to damage anything. If red temp light comes on, and fan never did, your fan or fan switch is broken/shorted - shut the motor off.
In short, the bike is fine. Red means danger.
