2006 KLX250 not charging
So went for a solo ride today. Long story short I ended up jump starting the bike to get home.
When I turn the key on I have no headlight, tailight, brake light, blinkers or starter. So clearly the battery is completely dead. I went over all the wires and nothing lose or any major chaffing anywhere. Bike turned over nice and solid before I left.
Ill be the first to admit I'm I know nothing about electrical lol. So what is involved in charging the bike that could fail?

Checked the 3 fuses under the seat. They are all good.
Battery is original as far as I know. I havnt changed it since I picked the bike up in 2008 with 1200km on it.
Here is what I found out messing around with the bike for a bit. Had the key ON and was messing around with wires and the lights clicked on nice and bright. I tried the elec start and I heard a CLICK and the lights all went out again. The starter never turned over. I continued messing with the wires looking for somewhere they might be shorting out and the lights clicked back on again.
Does this mean something relating to the starter is shorting out whenever I try to start the bike?

X2 on the battery. Most won't make it to their 5th birthday. You can bring it in to have it tested. If you have a volt meter you can test it yourself. If it drops below 10V when cranking its shot. A fully charged battery will read 12.7V.

How are your main battery post connections? Normally a major short of that sort would blow the main fuse. Sounds more like an intermittent connection, but a battery can do this occasionally with a bad cell. Your battery is getting a little long in the tooth at that age.
