My, new to me, 2006 KLX250S did not past the Maryland State inspection due to the light that illuminates the instument panel not functioning.
Where is a source for the older KLX250 cluster bulbs ? Did not find any reference on the net. Not sure if it is a bulb or a LED.
Seems the newer klx250 use LED.

Take out a bulb and go to the auto parts store.

 

probably whats called a bayonette bulb
and depending on the size you may be able to fit led in there
to easily change the color or get a crisp white

take a pic when you remove it I will let you know what type
ive changed alot of my bikes to led so far they have all been the same
but one also used an even smaller one but I had found the led version of that one too

The tiny bulb has 12 volts 1.7 watts as 12v 1.7V and then a name I can't read coming out of an oilwell derrick picture something "Josh.....iog"
I think it is called a "capless intrument bulb". So, I am off to an autoparts store to find a match.

fyi, bulb number 2721 is what you need for the 2006-2007 instrument cluster lighting. found them at local auto parts store.
resurrected my instrument cluster after a fall last year. tach glass broke along with 3 instrument lights burned out. replaced the tach glass with thin plexiglass found at the local hardware store.
good as new.
