2006 KLX 250s purchase price
Hello everyone. I have recently decided to replace my trusty KDX 200 with a street legal bike so I can do more riding. I really like the looks of the KLX 250s and have read a lot of good things about it on this site. There is a 2006 model at a local dealer with only 55 miles on it. The guy said it was a demo they purchased from Kawasaki. I asked what they were asking for it and the salesman said $4500. Crazy prize since MSRP on the 09's is just $300-400 more. He did say there was some room to negotiate. What do you guys think a fair price would be for this bike? They have two 09's that have been there for a while and I can't imagine them moving the 06 unless they provide a good deal. As far as condition, it looks new except there are some scuffs on the radiator shrouds on each side. Doesn't look like it was layed down or anything. Also, there was a puddle of oil underneath it. Don't know if it is from this bike or something else. Do these have a crank case vent that could drip if it got tipped over or something? Thanks in advance guys.

That is what I was thinking ($3800). I debated offering like $3500 considering the bike is technically used and there are now 2 subsequent model years out. The $3500 might be low but I think I read on here that some guys were getting good deals near $4,000 on new 07 models. Consider the fact that the 06 is a year older and does have some miles and scuffs. I guess they got to draw the line some where though. Any thoughts on the oil leak deej?

After reading the last two posts, it would seem that $3800 would be generous for this bike. The original quote of $4500 is laughable and I am sure his statement of there is room to deal some means they will go down an additional couple of hundred dollars. As I have read in other posts, patience is the key to getting a good deal on a bike. I have nothing to lose by going in and offering $3500 take it or leave it. There are other bike dealers around and maybe a good used one will come up like the one mentioned above. Thanks for your input guys and if anyone else has any experience on pricing, please chime in.
