Hey guys, Im new to this forum.
I've been having a lot of problems trying to get my klx going, I bought it a few months ago not running, at one point it was running but only very low rpms and redline nothing in between, it would just cut out in the middle and to get it to redline you had to give it max throttle fast it wouldn't if you just rolled the throttle on. This was after cleaning the carbultiple times and setting float height perfectly. So next I took it to my local motorcycle shop and got it serviced and they replaced the float valve and it did nothing. So then I was talking to my grandfather and he said it sounds like a carb problem and I ended up getting a used carb from a guy parting out his bike for $70 and it did nothing to help even after cleaning. And I ended up putting in a new ignition coil. So now I am going after electricals as it's a bit of a sketchy setup and I'm not 100% sure what's going on, because the previous owner had a faulty cdi so replaced it with the cdi and stator from his 1996 parts bike. Today I've gone over the electricals and can't find anything out of spec but .... the new ignition coil. I found the old one from the original electricals and put that in its in spec also and no change except some where along the line the bike doesnt even run properly in low or high rpms and will die with steady throttle till it warms up. It will only run at redline once warm but that may just be the case of turning up the idle screw.
