According to the Kawi website, the 2010 SF stock gearing is 14 - 39 but you could check in your owner's manual or count teeth.

I had looked at the bikes sales overview/specs page. Were you checking out the parts catalogue?

1. Access kawasaki.com
2. Click on "Owner Info > Parts Diagrams"
3. Select year and model, i.e., "2010" and "KLX250SF"
4. Next screen "Click here to choose"
5. On the next screen select "Parts Diagrams"
6. Next, select 49 state or California model
7. Now you are in the official Kawasaki parts fiche.

Scroll down to "transmission" and select it. You will find that Kawasaki thinks the SF has a 13 tooth counter shaft sprocket.

So that being said, I should be able to order the sprocket from the SF to replace my 14 tooth with a 13 tooth or is there a cheaper alternative?

cheaper alternative?

Get a Primary Drive brand from Rocky mt. ATV, there about $10, fit correct and works
fine.

All I know is that when I got the bike before the jetting and the pipe, and with stock gears, you better be going down hill if you wanted to use 6th. After the 13 tooth, 6th gear was totally usable, well at least on the flat, but hills were still a beotch. Then came the jetting and pipe, and the addition of the 45 rear sprocket. All of that added up to making 6th gear feel like 5th, and it was all good after that. It's what I call progressive perfection.
