Since I'm doing 80% plus offroad with this bike, I'm going to stick with something closer to the OEM tire such as the D606. I wonder what the real differences are between the 606 and the 603?

From what I'm seeing, about the only difference is the $110 difference in price.

606's are what is going to go on mine when it's time to retire!

I've found them here - http://www.americanmototire.com/ for $54.60 plus shipping.

Also available at http://arizonamoto.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=SWMT&Category_ Code=D606 for about $60. If you buy both front and rear, the shipping is free.

I will put a lot of miles on this bike during the summer, at least 6000. The 606 is a 2000mi tire at best, and the hi-way, gas mileage will suffer. I hear the Perelli MT21 is = to the 606, but will last longer. So I hope for 5-6k mile on the TW302.

PS. the 603 is Kawi only.

I won't put them in other than raw text. You might have to copy them and paste them into your browser.

I have never had them on a bike. I did put a set on my friend's bike and he really likes the combo. It's a Chen Shin 858 on the front and a Kenda 270 on the rear. Price is awesome, about about $65 a set DELIVERED to your house!

Hello,

I'v been reading as usuall and I am very happy to see all the reponse that this forum is getting. Everone has helped me out alot. I do have a question about the sproket thing. Well its acutaully a chain question. Does the klx have a master link on the chain for easy removal? I'm also in the process of installing the acerbis handguards with the ralley light kit and have mad a boo boo. The weight inside the left handgrip is stuck. Any suggestions on how to get the thing out? I have also put flush mounted signal markers on the back... I have the folding mirrors that work great by the way for off road. Did'nt realize that it would make that much of a difference on my off road riding but it does. I love the bike and look forward to any cool things that you all can share.
thanks

GT, just tap-out/thread the existing plugs with a 6mm tap to accept the mounting screw. What does Boo boo mean at this point? The chain has a master, but just loosen the rear wheel and slide the chain off to the wheel side. That will give you plenty of room for changing the front sprocket. Be sure to loosen the sprocket nut before taking the chain off the rear sprocket. That way you can use the rear brake and 2nd gear hold the shaft from spinning. Take you time.

Fyi, If you call your dealer and give them the po45-13 sprocket part# it comes up for them a 50045-13. I had stopped into my dealer and was talking to my parts guy and told him about this sproket so he could make a note in his books for other KLX riders and he could not find it. A few minutes later his pbi rep. came in i gave him the po45-13 # and he looked up in his master catalog and this is the # he gave me 50045-13.

Cool I'm heading down to Longview this weekend and I'll educate the parts guy while I'm there.

Default Another alternative

I was browsing the sprocket collection at my local CycleGear store. They had a Sprocket Specialists catalog which listed the correct sprocket for the '94-96 KLX250 a number 524 (their part number). I couldn't find one of those on the shelf but stumbled across another sprocket of theirs with part number 564. This happened to be a 13t and looked visually to be a dead ringer for Tony's drawing. I decided to take a flyer on it and it fit perfectly! So, if you happen to find a Sprocket Specialists 564-13, you're in luck. I have no idea what bike it's really for.

Ed. Note: It's for the XR650L

I went for a short spin and agree with everyone else that the 13t up front is perfect. You will notice increased chain noice from any of these aftermarket sprockets due to the lack of rubber damping like the OEM units. Small price to pay.
