Default 130 vs 120 rear...will the 130 actually work?

I have a 2006 KLX 250s. I have read some threads that say a 120 is all you need when replacing the rear tire and going bigger. Is this because the 120 is as high as you can go without rubbing or will the 130 actually work. I was looking and the Dunlop 606 130/90/18. Going up from stock size Dunlop 603 and just want a meaty rear tire. No plans on racing and no plans for extremely heavy / very aggressive off road riding. Just cruising around off road with the occassional trip to work if my car decides not to start sometime.
Thanks

Your working with a bike that puts out 18 hp stock. If you install a huge tire it sucks up the hp like a fat chick on the back..... Parker DT 110/100-18 on the left, it has its benefits. 450 on the right, the bike runs a Pirelli MT21 140/80-18.

Thanks guys. I just cruise this bike on casual bayou trails and drive it to work once in a blue moon. I like the look of the meatier tire, and was wondering if the 130 would actually fit in the back without rubbing. I'm not worried about sapping up horse power because of the style of riding I do. I live in the flatlands and just cruise around pretty flat trails.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

And after all...it is only about looks, isn't it?

Well, as of right now, since I just got the bike, I am just making little tweaks, so I would like to make little adjustments to make it look a little more aggressive and sound a little more aggressive. So if anyone can answer the question if a 130 would fit on the rear, without rubbing, I would appreciate it.

Thanks to all.

I can attest that a 130, and a 5.10, will fit on an SF.
I do believe the question of "why?" is being asked for good reason. In a best case, you'll just be dragging around more weight; sprung, rotating weight at that! In a worst case, you'll harm turn-in characteristics and off-road traction. AND, to add insult to injury, the larger tire will cost more...
I say leave the ostentatious wide tires to the Harley chopper crowd!

It's funny you made that last comment, because while my wife and I are new to the offroad community we have been riding obnoxiously load and fat Honda Shadow VTX's. Ha ha.
I love em both :-)

You're like me then! I come from 2 decades of riding on asphalt and just went off-road a year ago. If your experince turns out to be like mine was, I found a significant shift in attitiude and riding style is required to leave the road successfully. I am finding it very rewarding, humbling at times, and it has improved my street riding too.

A Dunlop D606 130 will fit fine, but it is taller, which will make your bike lean a bit more when on the kickstand, and it is about $15-$20 more. I put one on,but ended up not thinking it was worth it. I'll stick with the 120's or under.
