the 128 is good. you won't really know until you ride but i'd bet it's going to be just fine.

sorry, didn't see the comma. you should be good to go. Not sure what a 128 dj main is in contrast to a keihin, but I had a keihin 128 in Iowa which should be pretty close in elevation to where you ride. Since you removed the lid, I hope the dj 128 is larger than the keihin 128 because you'll need more fuel than a 128 keihin can deliver without the lid being on there. I tried it with mine with no lid and it ran like crap. I put the lid back on and enlarged the snorkel hole and it was perfect.

I'll be doing this same exact thing next week.

i used the dynojet kit as stated..needle and enlarged the hole in the slide, im not worried about the box beigns the seat covers it, i dont foresee much getting in there then dust and thats a filter maintence issue

The Dynojet kit #128 should be fine at the altitude you are riding at in North Dakota - and yes, pulling the carb ain't fun but it's far from crappy!

I used the dynojet kit and the 128 needle etc per the instructions and it worked great. I am in Florida at around sea level. Make sure you put the little washers *on top* of the needle clip.
