Default 125 or 128 Main ?

For the last year I have been running ALL the forum mods (stock exhaust with 1st baffle drilled), using a 125 main. Put on my 2Bros exhaust and the bottom and mid feel stronger but the top feels like it starts softening around 8000. When I did the mods there was discussion over the 125 versus the 128 and I went leaner. I'm guessing the new exhaust has effected this choice.

So for you guys running the forum mods WITH an aftermarket exhaust...what are you running? I'm hesitant to get into it too much now, with the cold winter air I'm sure it's a little lean anyways and will 'richen' up (per se) as the weather gets warmer......

I would say put the stock lid back on with the snorkle out, and then test drive. If it feels better then leave it on until it gets warmer and then go back to your normal setup and see how it feels. Or you could always put the 128 in and see.

I don't think that the jet is the reason that the engine tapers off at over 8k RPM's.
I believe the primary reason for this a combination of the CDI map and the camshaft profile.

The FMF full system made the most noticeable difference and the bike pulled much harder up above 8K but can still feel the power rolling off as the tach needle goes up.
I have tried nearly every conceivable jet, needle position and fuel screw setting until I got it dialed in correctly and none of the richer jets have helped much at high RPM’s.

I had that problem too, I just sarted over from the base carb setting to the top of the scale. Hmf with no lid and dyno kit for a klx 300. I'm using a 132 main with great results.

Just curious...How's the fuel economy with your mods & 132 jet?

Interesting, maybe I should go to a 130 or 132. I made a plate and converted my lid to an Outterwears setup so I don't get any difference with or without the lid...other than the Outerwears keeps EVERYTHING out of the airbox(I can go 1000 miles of 2nd/3rd gear trails in a year and the filter hardly needscleaned. I do it in the winter just because of boredom).

You all make good points, I usually ride around 4500-5000 rpm and shift around 7000 or so, so it isn't that big a deal. Just from riding the bike on the street it 'feels' a little lean before I shift...which it didn't before. Not sure the 128 will be a big enough change to notice from the 125, though ! I need to hit the hills and feel how it pulls before getting into the jetting....

ZX1100F1, what carb mods are you running with the FMF setup ?

When running fast switchbacks, mostly 2nd and 3rd gear (with 13T front sprocket) averaging 5-6000 rpm I get 40 mpg.

I hit reserve at 75 miles +- 5 miles with a DJ 132 on the street. I have hit reserve at 55 miles off road. I was at 80 miles +- 5 miles with a OEM 125. I know so well because with the KLX tank you have to fillup all the time

I'm not into mileage. I run mind at 7000 plus rpm all the time. With my 14/53 gearing 50mph is like 7200 rpm. She still hit 70 mph still.
I always rode My highly mod predator with vortex box in two postion idle or wot. Beside the mileage is so awesome losing a little to have power and twist ripping fun is worth it in my case. Thats why I ordered a clarke fuel tank that should even things out. The more mods fast and power I can get just means better planning of ride a.k fuel station.Beside I'm a road runner on avon tires.
