I installed one on my bike and the wife's XT 225, its a great mod, I can charge my cell phone, run the GPS, charge the battery with the maintainer, and jump the bikes if one of the batteries goes dead.
I used an aluminum CB antenea bracket drilled out.
The wife's bike, I used a bracket to mount the heated hand grips and the 12v plug.
Then instead of having to remove covers every time you want to top off the battery, all you have to do is to plug in the maintainer right through the plug.
Compact jumper cables.

You would think that as an electrician I would have installed a fuse, but it actually took a bike catching on fire story to remind me, so I went back and installed a 20 amp automotive flat fuse in the red wire that does go directly to the battery.
