Default +1 for Cycle Pro

Just wanted to give some feedback in the 331 Kit i got from Cycle Pro.

I sent my core cylinder and payment last saturday the 17th, and got my kit today the 26th. 8 business days (counting saturdays) is not a bad turn around IMO, though John had advised me that he had one in stock and ready to go just before I ordered. Having one made on request would likely take somewhat longer.

Anyway on to the kit... its a nikasil plated bore job, using a JE piston and cometic gasket kit. John offers a 11.5:1 or 12:1 piston (your choice), i opted for the 12:1.

I'll try to get some pictures later when i have a camera at my disposal but it pretty much looks exactly like the Kustom Kraft bore kit that i have seen pictures of but without making my wallet an extra $290 lighter.

In all i'm very pleased and can't wait to get this thing installed... unfortunately my weekend is now over and i'll have to wait until saturday night after work to get started on the install ...

What's the reasoning for not going with the 351 kit? About to do the upgrade myself and looking for any drawbacks between kits.

well i might be totally off on this but in my mind the 351 is going to be better at mid-low RPM power production where as i'm looking for mid-high RPM. Since theres not really much out there in the way of dyno charts alot of that thinking is my own conjecture however.

The 351 would be the better offroad kit IMO, but not on the race track.

$500 with cylinder exchange. +$175 if you don't send in a core.

The KLX engine is not a revver. It is a torquey motor. It takes lots of money to get it to rev high. If you want power from revs you should have bought a WR or similar. Just my 2c.

Bill still does a range of big bore kits Home Page

300 Big Bore Kit $453.95

331 Big Bore Kit $486.95

340 Big Bore Kit $502.45

351 Big Bore Kit $527.45

All cylinders have a $175.00 core charge returnable when cylinder is received.

I agree with this, most people with the 351 say the power is down low.

I think we are talking about the KLX power delivery as delivered. Stock power peaks around 8k, 351 peaks lower. 331 power curve stays closer to stock delivery (Mid-High Rpm as applied to the KLX). Some like it low and grunty and some prefer to use more RPM's.
