Default 09 vs. 07 vs. xt250

I have a chance to get a 07 klx at a real good price, about $3,000 with 700 miles. I was going to get a 09 klx or an xt250 becauseI will ride it 99% on the street. I want a small bike like I started on 25 years ago. Any comments?

Sounds like a good price. Neither new bike is going to revolutionize the small bore DS class. I would not hesitate ob an 07, & in fact, based on what I have seen prefer it. But it is up to you. Either way cant go wrong.

Grab it up,you'll never regret it. I have loved mine since day one and almost everybody on here with one will probably say the same.

If you don't take the '07, let me know...I am about 2 hours from Asheville.

That '07 sounds like a steal! The '09 might be slightly better on the street due to some suspension revisions by Kawasaki. The XT is likely to be a good all-rounder, probably a little better for those who like a lower seat height, also, it's air cooled while the Kawi's are liquid cooled.

I personally don't like the XT,it's just a revamped xt225 which is the same as my ttr.If you really look at an xt compared to the klx you would see the major differences, they just look cheaply builtandhave crappy drum brakes in the rear. They are a definate starter bike more so than the klx.IMO They are probably a great local commuter bike but doubt they have the longevity of something with stroger parts. Sorry deej,I know you and your wife have one but I've had mine for almost 6yrs and it's just falling apart.

Welcome, and get either klx , they are built sooo much better than the xt250. You won't regret it. Then you can be an addict like the rest of us!

I'd get the '07 man! These bikes are sweet. I think they are the most technologically advanced DS on the Market. I would check if you can transfer or add some extended warranty just to be safe in case there are any problems. That's the only reason I went for new. I like knowing that I took care of it from day 1. Welcome to the site and good luck with your decision.

Well, I don't know if I'd go so far as to say they're the "most technologically advanced DS on the Market"; but I will say that they are very well built and run quite well for what they are. I consider any dirt bike that has dot legal equipment to be a DS, and the Husky kills all other manufacturers in technology. Take a ponder at their '08 TE's, I'd take one of those over any Husaberg or KTM in a heartbeat. They're a downright machine, no pun intended. But $ and time to ride still dictates what I buy and thereare still plans on a red 2009 KLX being in my garage no later than March.
