I got the new "Head Assembly" - it didn't include cams or valves (a guy can hope, right?)

I'm now in the market for cams, I guess I might as well get some performance parts now, right?

As for valves, I'll tear down the old parts and see what's reusable.

You can go "track" cam & nice valves. If the cams locked up with the valves open, they may be damaged.

I think yoshimura makes cams for the asian market "D tracker" basically the same as our klx, with some differences, timing etc. do a search for
" kawasaki d tracker".

Default New Head assembly

Reassembly of the new head has begun. Much of the valvetrain was salveagable, but I cannot get the lower valve spring seats out to save my life - any tips on getting them out?

are you talking the washers under the springs/ I usually just use one of the those telescoping magnets but have not done the klx.

make sure you also blow out all those oil lines and check the oil pump housing the impeller lives in. Found motors where the housing was worn enough the pump couldn't make pressure, needed new case 1/2 or jb weld buildup. Suspect your motor may have just had the oil filter installed wrong or the oil plug fell out or something stupid simple.

Yeah, the parts sheet shows it as a little plate. It will spin, but not come up or out. I tried magnets, grabbing it with needlenose pliers, and even putting hot oil on it and digging it out. No luck.
