'09 questions
just got this '09 & thinking about what it needs. its in pretty food shape, only 4k miles & never off road (or not much). I believe it is totally stock... still has the original tires (no worries, fresh set of MT21s that I got for a dr350 will go on this one). the valve cover gasket leaks, but the PO has parts on the way & I will get them on arrival. figure I will check valves while there. the chain is decent (cleaned & lubed) sprockets OK for a while. suspension seems to work . I didn't look too close at the carb but I expect it has the pilot screw blanked off & can stand to have the air box opened up, maybe air filter change, and something like the 22 cent mod for the KLR (fill me in here). not a fan of Dynojet nessicarily, I prefer to use Kehin parts if possible.
I need a left rear turn signal.
figure I'll run it a while and do the 350 somewhere in the future. thanks all

Look in the Cheap mods link in my signature. It is a compilation of a couple riders' work, the most valuable is that of D. Pippin on his site. My summary deals with the carb and using the Kiehin parts mostly, Pippin's site is very complete with a number of other modifications including chassis.
Hope that helps. It did with my 09

Yeah, Doug did a lot with his bike. I spent some time talking with him and it was really interesting. He did enduro racing at a high level and has a long history with motorcycling. That he did so much with the KLX250 over the years, as has TNC, makes me really appreciate both of them. Doug is my new hero though, still riding at 78... gives me a goal to chase being 65 myself. Pretty cool.
I only wish I could have face to face time with riders here and at the ADVrider forum. Not just the ones I agree with, but most all of them. That's the fun in life. Often when I have someone call we get into a bit of discussion and it's fun.
