Default '09 Purchase Price

Hi all,

I am new to the forum, and currently own an orange machine. I do however have the desire to pick up a KLX for my wife. Having owned several KLR's in the past, I am thrilled about putting a Kawi back in the barn.

What is the going price for an 09? My local (So Cal) dealer initially claims that 5900 out the door is the deal...I disagree.

Where should I begin, guys?

kawasaki.com. Heck, for what your dealer is quoting, I'll sell you my red
'09 with low miles, full Muzzy and the other listed mods for $4990.

Hey boozeman, I bought my 06klx a couple years ago from Honda East and had it shipped to a local depot. Price was $4100 + 300 shipping....overall a smooth transaction. I went this way because the local dealer wanted foolish money just like yours.

I found them on traderonline and it seems they are still doing it.

New klx250s red or green $4.499 + shipping.....link to them if interested.

You may find a better deal on traderonline ...... I just scanned until I found Honda East....because I have experience with them....best of luck...keep your girl happy.

Thanks guys,

This site is great, as it gets all of us closer to being on the same page...I hate dealing with new purchases, and this whole dealer bs just makes me angry. I want to buy close to home so that I can support my local shop--but they want to rob me blind before the relationship even begins. Even when I tell them that I would like to avoid a big mail-order joint, they offer to take far more money than they should...

I'll try the buy and ship method, thank you. Geez guys, I thought buying my last bike was a pain. Why are we punished for a desire to support local shops?

I think the outrageous price they quoted you was because these bikes are somewhat hard to get in some parts of the country, especially california since it is the first year the KLX250S is legal in that state. People are selling Ninja 250's here for around $4500 and dumb people are buying them because there aren't many here and they don't know where to go to find one.

man thats a load of sh*t, thats way too much. MSRP the bike is 4,899 on the kawi site. I live in Alaska and They did charge me shipping which is bull, but it turned out to be 5,200. and extra three hun. If your dealer has already got the bike, and not ordered by you then there really trying to rip you off.

If you are patient, you can score a good deal. I got my ride from a Utah dealer for ~$3500 out the door. The local dealer wanted MSRP plus bogus fees that equaled over 25% the MSRP of the motorcycle. I saved a ton of money by being patient.
