I heard or felt one misfire the whole time I had the bike out 35 or 45 miles. I did run it at 62 mph or 6500 rpm for 5 or 10 miles with no bucking. I am not done with the carb yet. The jury is still out. I am not sure being 36*F is a good time to test. So far so good.

Hope to ride it again tomorrow. Supposed to be 40* +

So after taking the bike 5 times to a Kawasaki dealership, they are taking care of it...

Apparently, according to Kawasaki USA, it is the second bike that does this... Very hard to figure out what the problem is... Everything is fine as far as coil, stator, voltage regulator... But by replacing the whole wiring harness, it fixes the problem (although I have to admit I have not gotten my bike back yet but they are replacing the wiring harness as this is what fixed the other bike with the same issue)...

FYI: if the dealership does not listen to you and blames it on something else (in my case: they always blamed it on the jetting... Even after they have worked on the jetting...), ask them to open a case with Kawasaki USA and investigate the issue you are TELLING them.
Dealerships will do the minimum and avoid to call Kawasaki USA all the time... Except the one dealership that really listened to what I was telling them and agreed to take it further into investigation (this is when they call Kawasaki USA to get more step by step instructions to investigate an issue) -> Lakecity Kawasaki, WA.

If you are in the Seattle area, do not go to RMC to get your bike serviced, they will only do what they want on the bike regardless of what you are telling them...

I have ridden my bike twice since last post. It seems the misfire has moved up to 9,000 RPM.

Wonder if it could be a grounding issue on the harness?

Over on ADV there was a rider in England who had his harness rub through = no run. There might be some bikes with a harness routing issue. Someone having having some off moments during assembly.

News:

They replaced the wiring harness... It did not fix the problem... They are still working with Kawasaki USA and will make further investigation...

They had the bike for 2 weeks now... Will I get a new bike? Can I ask for a loaner?

My commute is 1h30 with my car... And 35min with my bike... It makes me angry when I am not moving in traffic... :-(

Since the last post, I removed the lid from the air cleaner and the spit sputter is totally gone. I rode the bike purposely at 6500 rpm for a long time and no misfire. Nothing at 9,000 rpm either. MY misfire is gone with a new TM36-68 pumper carburetor.

AND It has some top end *****.

You are doing better than you think. The bike IS misfiring for the dealer. I am a mechanic and some times "It doesn't do it for me" is the truth. They admit there is a problem and are trying with the factory to fix it. Time is the cost. This is good. They can replace parts (at the factory expense) until the problem is really resolved. I have been down this road many times.

I would ASK for a loaner, I have no idea if you will get one, but if you do not ask, I am sure you will not.

Bring this back from the dead, my bike is cutting out more on these colder morning. I'm dying to find a cure and wanted to see if any of these old post found a fix to the problem?

My bike has done this from day one with no really regularity. since new I have rejetted, repiped, removed air box lid changed air filters and nothing has changed the problem to make me think it might be this or that.

So was it the carb, the voltage regulator, a goofy ground what did others come up with?

Thanks guys
