09 KLX250S Stator output
I am trying to find out the output of the stock 09 stator. I'd like to mount up this dual light setup for some night rides off road. I read online about rewinding and the stock stator has 6 posts but only 4 are wound. Does this apply for the 09 stator also?
At the moment the lights have 55w bulbs, but I'd like to try 100w bulbs if possible.
Eagle eyes will note that the mounts will need to be reworked as this was used on a atv.

IDK about your posted question, but if you haven't thought of it, you'll definately wanna increase the size of the main power wire from the stator to the battery to handle the extra juice, and of course the headlight harness. If you already knew that, then excuse my stupidity

No I didn't know that. And I appreciate the suggestion to increase the stators wire size, b/c I don't have extensive experience with the klx yet. I'm learning slowly with the help of this forums like this. Thanks for the help, I've found that there aren't bad questions at times - only the ones that are not asked. Mike

The 06-07 KLX250S has an 18 pole stator with a 210W capacity. The 09 stator is a different PN, but still has 18 poles. Based upon what I've seen in manuals here in Japan, the 09 has about a 240W capacity. You will have some loss at the regulator, so I'd put the output at closer to about 200W. These stators are already pretty beefy. It would be a waste of money rewinding them.
There was an earlier comment about enlarging a 'wire from the stator to the battery,' which seems a bit mis-guided. We have 3 wires going from the stator to a rectifier/regulator. The rectifier regulator has a wire going to the battery that is already sized according to that unit's max capacity.
Lights always draw a little bit more than what they're rated at, so I don't think you would have enough headroom running 2x 100W lights..especially when you account for the CDI and tail light consuming another 15-20W, but you should do just fine with 2x 55W lights.

Tremor, I want to say thanks for the response. I also read on another forum your reply and had found some very informative information. Your technical generosity is very appreciated. Thank you, Mike

Like some of the others have said, one H.I.D light can throw an awful lot of light. The swath is really wide, too.
Check out Baja Designs. One of their single HID setups would consume a max of 100W and make night into day.
Good luck!
