Keep in mind that your stock fork springs are .43, so .46 won't be a lot stiffer at your weight

One leg done...... had some Torco 5wt on the shelf. RT says 4mm preload and 90mm space. Went with about 12mm preload and 90mm. Had to stop for some chow... now back for the second leg *Grin

UPDATE: 2nd leg done.. total time for both legs, maybe 1.5 hours going slow and reading the manual.

Results: I haven't checked the sag, but a quick ride around in the dark.....I think it's going to be just right. I could see how a young aggressive rider might want more, but I'm a dirt noob, have a bad back, and will be riding mostly Florida sand and jeep trails. Without measuring sag, I can tell the front end rides higher and brake dive is much reduced. I've decided now to go with the 6.2 rear spring, and can maybe save up for gold valves at both ends before the Spring riding season takes off.

I appreciate everyone's input!

I'm actually in Alabama.. just north of Dothan, but have started riding some with ADVrider guys over near Pensacola...

I've only done street rides with them so far, but they ride over on Eglin and Blackwater a lot, so I need to develop some dirt legs.

Some numbers...

I'm 230 in street clothes..

2009 KLX250s..
RT .46 for springs, 10mm spacer on top of spring, fresh 5Wt Torco RFF, 90mm from top
Static sag looks to be about 30mm
Sag with me sitting center of bike, looks to be about 65mm.. it's 45 degrees or so, so stiction may be at play as well.
I'll most likely remove the 10mm spacer

UPDATE: pulled the spacers.. now more like 75-80 mm Sag (about 40mm static)

Stock rear spring, I don't know how much preload I have dialed in... I added about 4 turns from where it was when I got it.
Static sag: about 23mm
Sag with me sitting mid bike.. about 95mm

I like the ride so far, and still plan on bumping the rear spring up to a 6.2.
