Default 09 klx250s 300 kit faq

I am going to take the advise from EMS and just do the 300 mod for now. So im clear, I need a 08 klx300 oem cylinder with sleeve + piston & rings + gasket kit- thats it? The 250 head, valves & cams are good to go as is? Carb question- can i just rejet the 250 carb or do i buy a new carb? Also looking for pictures of the 09 air box mod and the removal of the emissions / smog stuff....pics please!
Help a noooooooooob!
I need more POWER!

Time to drink a beer, late

IMOyou would be better off getting the 331 from the start. More power for very little in cost difference. It will be much more money to go from the 300 to 331 if you then decide you want even more power. I would go with FSW, Kustom Craft, LA Sleeveor Bill Blue. A pumper carb alsoadds quite a bit in the pep department. I am partial to the Keihin FCR35 set up by FSW but many have been happy with the Mikunis. You can keep the stock CVK carb and re-jet to match any engine work you end up with. I would re-jet the stock carb or better yet buy a pumper even if you did not do a big bore kit. I also have custom cams butif you have a limited budget I would opt for an FCR before the cams. Do a search, it has all been covered in great length here and on ThumperTalk. Kustom Krafts web site used to have a good article regarding the KLX 250 to 331 upgrade.

I did go with the 300 mod. Yes all you need is a Klx 300 cylinder, a 300 head gasket and a new cylinder base gasket. I did not bought the Kawasaki piston since it was a cast unit. I did put a Wiseco forged klx 300 piston in it. You don't have to buy a new carb simply rejet. On mine i got the n1tc needle from the 300, a 132 main and a 35 stock pilot. Aftermarket exhaust is a must too. Probably useless to do the 300 mod if you don't have thrown away the stock exhaust. On mine I got the Fmf power bomb with a Q4 pipe. And I removed the rubber snorkel from the airbox lid.
