Smile '09 KLX 250s exhaust

I just got a new KLX250s and was thinking of putting a new pipe on it but, are low on funds. I was considering cuting the end off of the stocker and gutting it. I know it will be loud, I could care less about that. I just want to know if there would be any negative effects like power loss or burnt valves or anything like that. Thanx.

The bike is already jetted far too lean from the factory... it needs to be rejetted regardless... so my uneducated opinion is yes, you need to rejet it before gutting the muffler or you will run it too lean.

Find yourself a 300 klx header pipe and muffler from someone who is updated their exhaust this is supposed to be the cheap fix to get the 250 to breath.... Of course you need to rejet, lots of great stuff on this site to help.. congratulations on the new bike

rejet even if ya stay stock/bored out stock muffler and check ebay/ this forum for a used slip on or full exhaust of your choice, dont wanna start an exhaust war but they all pretty much accomplish the same goal!
