'09 headlight question
The headlight on my klx450r is awful, all form no function. I'm just wondering if the headlamp on the '09 klx250 is as good as the one on my '07 is. If so i will just order the factory '09 light.
thnx in advance

The 09 headlight is probably the thing I hate the most...Looks cool though...
Ive used the screws for adjusting but either my low beams are to high or the highs are too low...I havent tried adjusting it too much but its annoying in high beam mode.... Useless..

I also know of somebody here in Japan who put the KLX450r headlight fixture on a D-tracker then fitted it with an H4 based hi/lo H.I.D unit...that son-of-a-gun is THE BOMB and is on my short list for future mods.
So, to some it up, I'm pretty sure the problem is your bulb. If you can find an H4 harness, an H4 55/60w halogen bulb will work wonders. You will have to add a hi/low beam switch if you want the high beam function though.

I already have a 55w high\low bulb and a corresponding switch. It's just that the way the headlamp is shaped, it directs all of the light out the sides of the lens and also about 15 ft into the air. I have tried to shim the housing and adjust the bulb to no avail. The way it is designed the light only sits about a half inch above the fender so I think the fender is reflecting the light back up and away.
I guess if the '09 klx250s light is no good either i will just have to buck up and put one of those nasty looking Trail Tech rally looking lights on.
I like that old school look anyway.
Thnx for your input guys.

Might not be bad....
I havent used High beams much since because low beams are about 95% ideal..But under 20 mph the high beams rock....Maybe I was wanting some street bike or caged light that blast 100yards out...Offroad this headlight would probably rock...
**Note to self...
**Take country seasonal road cruise at 3am this weekend and try atv trails for 100 miles....**

Yeah I'm completely unimpressed with the headlight on my '09. It was adjusted far too high from the dealer... the low beam was hitting miles beyond where I could see, and the highbeam was signalling for Batman...
I've adjusted the beam WAYY down, still not that great (compared to my dad's '06 DRZ400-S) The problem to me is that the highbeam is too tight of a beam and doesn't shoot to the sides very well, especially in that mid-range where the lowbeam doesn't quite reach.
