'07 or '09 KLX250?

If you ride some of the single track trails in Death Valley NP area, (like

And, I love the little manly tool bag
Haven't ridden the '09 or seen one either, but the 2007 KLX 250s is the one for me. I'm a happy camper, but will be a lot happier when I get the BIGGER TANK INSTALLED. Guess what, you don't have to fill it for each ride... but it's tough to have what you'll need in bottles and auxilary tanks!
Happy trails,
Punkenduro
& I do), you're 'gonna' wish you had the bigger tank!! Trust me!! I've run out of gas twice on single runs from Sunset CG to the charcoal Beehive kilns and on another ride from Sunset CG to Titus Canyon. Hoofing it and hoping for a ride to the nearest gas station isn't much fun!!http://www.americansouthwest.net/cal...alley_map.html here's a map to look over the area.

Happy trails,
That's why I never leave home without these. 2 in the pelican case and 2 in the camelbak. I refuse to be stuck anywhere.
And remember my Canada trip? You can always add the cans for those 700 mile trips out in the middle of nowhere.
And if you are limiting the KLX to 100 miles a day, then you are missing out on the best thing about the bike. The fact that you can go anywhere, anytime.
So come on guys, load em up and DO IT!

If I wanted to ride more than 100 miles a day I would have bought a ZX-6R
I guess I just define dualsport different than all you guys. Hundreds of miles of gravel / asphault is adventure touring, not dualsporting. I look at my bike as a trails bike first and foremost. It is simply convenient (neccessary) to ride it on the streets to the trail because I don't own a pickup truck and everything is so close.
There is nothing wrong with long-distance ride, IDK why you people still think I'm ragging on you about it, I've already said before I meant no offense, yet I'm still catching flak over it and we're three pages in. Its not my cup of tea, that shouldn't make me less of a KLX'er than you guys.

Man have we ever gotten on a tangent here. Poor Dave Pennington probably thinks were all nuts...well uhm never mind. Clifsta it's all good, personally I've never liked the look or feel of a big tank, but I've never liked being stranded in the middle of nowhere either. Dual sporting, adventure touring, whatever, I just call it being able to ride all day without any (practical) distance limitations. Both the 07 and 09 models are IMO great (practically the same) bikes. Each one has advantages and disadvantages. I was just trying to tell Dave (IMO) not having availabilty to a larger tank on the 09 is a disadvantage. BTW I started a new thread "Calling 09 owners" concerning this big tank issue for the 09's. Anybody that is interested in a larger tank for the 09's please email Clarke and let them know about it.Clifsta BTW I was only kidding about that "little" remark, and I stand corrected and it is nice to know that there is some where to ride in La. Great food too. Crawfish boil mmm.
