Short story:

I need help. I need a picture of the space between the front edge of a IMS tank and the steering stem/triple tree. If you have one or can take one, I have searched and I cannot find one.

Long Story:

I decided to install a Scotts stabilizer. I got it done with no problems until I decided to reinstall the Clarke gas tank. It interfered badly. I tried to heat the tank and bend it in (popular Internet idea). The heat gun melted the seam of the tank near the location I tried to heat. The tank still doesn't fit and now has a size able hole.

I installed the stock tank and it fits, but I often use more than 2.5 gallons on the trails where I ride. I don't want to order an IMS, deal with all the hassles to get it to properly sit in place (cut off hooks), and have to return it.

I would greatly appreciate a picture from and 06-07 KLX250s owner with an IMS tank. A shot that covers from the handle bar clamp to the tank would be great. I just want to see how much room is there.

 

This probably won't help but gives you an idea of what the clearances might be. P/N for the bolt on tower (thats what BRP invoice calls it) is FBD-5578 fits 94-04 klx300, 95-05 kdx200/220. And the 09 klx250 if you clearance the top triple for the allen pinch bolt you can see in both pics. Last pic might be of more help..

 

Thank you for the picts. What I got out of that was that the 09 uses a different bolt on kit that that triple tree clearance issues.

I'm still stuck though because I need to know if there is room on a KLX250s (years 06-07) with an IMS tank. The reason I need to know is because the directions to install the IMS tank call for cutting hooks off of the frame to put the tank in place. I don't want to go that far without seeing the gap, and I won't be able to eye it up without putting it in place.

Anyone else? ... help please.
