Went for a longer ride today. About 120 miles, Victoria to Shawnigan lake, to weeks lake, to bear creek lake, to Jordan river, to sooke, then home. About 3.5 hours total, 2.5 hours riding maybe. Weather was a mix of sun, rain, wind and fog at higher elevations. I was at 1800', bike ram great the whole day. Lots of pavement and logging roads. Good times!!!
Smoke break, ****ing junkies!!!

You take wifey on back? Those back pegs are the whole difference and the only important reason I'm looking for more power - to take 2 anywhere it'll take one.
Now, I'll let my secret out - but mind you I've been riding offroad since I was 8, so 46 years now - When you get off the pavement, put your wife or girlfriend ( but not both ) in front. Rest her boots on top of yours, put her hands on the grips and yours over hers or on the outer most part of the grips - know your route difficulty, stay safe, and make it fun for her to see and feel it all.. Do it right and the Whoopie-o-meter could peg out!

I can't speak to the difference between a lighter spring vs. a larger vacuum hole. I suppose I'd try the spring first. If you go for a larger hole, it can be sealed with epoxy and the original size drilled in. The idea is to have a little faster throttle response so both methods should accomplish the task. The spring change is easier to take back to stock.
The 2206 DJ needle is a little more aggressive than the 2152. Some of us contemplate that it may be more appropriate for big bore installations.
I think you're on track with starting richer and working towards lean if needed. The screw is different than the 2Ts you're used to. It adjusts fuel flow, not air. In is lean, out is rich. So just turn your mind around.
Nice find on the Hindle. It looks a lot like the HMF I first tried, then switched to the FMF Q4 because the HMF was just too raspy and loud for my likes.
My KLX with the stock carb would often not start right up when hot. A little opening of the throttle usually helped. Would the wife benefit from some lowering links? My GF has dumped it too on low speeds. She doesn't understand, or feel comfortable, that a little more speed makes it more stable. The cougar incident must have been quite interesting!

I did the Marcelino Cam Timing Modification, which may have helped starting too. Along with doing the richer pilot (128? I forget) and 2 turns out on the screw, which might need some fiddling to suit higher altitudes, I'm at 900-1200 ft.
You can barely get your thumb off the button when it is starts. Hot starting wasn't an issue either Stock it would crank over several seconds before firing.
Supposedly the Marcelino Mod takes away the intake roar when the cover is off. That was one of his comments, the roar indicated to him that the intake was too advanced, causing the roar.
