Aren't our cases aluminum? If so, if it's stuck anywhere it would be to the steel internals. I've no clue on how the oil is routed throught the motor but the first two places I'd check would be the oil filter cavity and then the oil pump cavity and the screen under it.

Then again, even though the cases might not be magnetic, just the oil film alone would be enough to hold the lil magnet from moving around very much, even after you drained it.

Good luck.

Hopefully it's not small enuf to get lodged in one of the oil passages, such as the ones leading to the filter area[&:]..I would try a much larger magnet on the underside of the bike and drag it towards the drain hole (plug removed) I would repeat this methodically until i was convinced I covered the entire area..remember to lift the magnet away from the bike each time you reach the drain hole in case you get it close and end up dragging it back away from the hole. It gotta be in that area somewhere...good luck and let us know if/when/how u get it out.

Before ya spit the case to find that sucker....If ya do.....take off the right side cover, very easy to do , and do somemore phishing for that sucker thru the hole where the coarse oil filter screen is.....see this pic.

Oh, the oil screen opening is the oval opening at the bottom of the motor right above the frame in the center of the pic.

I don't think that was a stupid question it could of just been hanging onto the plug and got knocked of when he pulled it down! He did not say he checked in the pan for it!

maybe the U in gut was pronounced long, like "ooo" thus translating to "goot" which is slang for good?
