A couple fuel mileage tidbits I found while riding this summer.
(1) For a while this summer I was driving about 41 miles to work and was filling up my bike every day at the same gas station and was able to monitor my fuel mileage very accurately, so I tried a little experiment. I tried tucking in to reduce my body's exposure to the wind and reduce my drag. I found I could save about 50 cents per round trip.
(2) My son was working with me for some of this time and rode his KLX as well, so it started costing me twice as much since I ended up filling his tank as too. Some of the time we drove together in a little 4 cyl Ford Ranger, and I noticed that the fuel consumption was nearly the same in the Ranger as it was riding our two klx's.
Of course the ride was a lot funner on the bikes then it was in the Ranger.
