Default Low OIL!!

I checked the oil on my KLR 650 a few days ago and I couldnt even see the level on the glass gauge. I had to tilt the bike to almost laying on the ground, then the oil filled the window. Before draining it when I changed it, I poured about half a quart of engine oil cleaning oil in. I let it idle for about 3 minute, then drained everything. Before I added the fixer, I had been riding almost everyday with at most a quart. The bike was running fine. I cant beleive I didnt check the oil more often. The bike (even though it had a quart or less) had sythetic, so that may have helped. I changed it yesturday, with synthetic, and I took it for a ride and it ran perfectly. It runs about as good as my dads 2001 with 8,000 miles and mine is a 2001 with 45,000 miles.

Is it possible that my bike suffered no damage. My thoughts are that, its running as well as ever, so if I keep the oil topped off and clean, than the engine should suffer no problems. Am I right?

-thanks

Im not a mechanic, but as far as im concerned you should be fine. My KLR would burn up lots of oil riding at high speeds, I would often stop and notice the oil had dropped very low, but nothing ever went wrong. Keep an eye on it in the future and dont worry about the past.
