Need valve adjustment specs '04 KLR250
#2
Here you are. Valve Clearance (engine cold) should be: 0.20-0.24mm (.008-.009inches) for BOTH intake and exhaust.
Fundamentally, valve clearance adjustment is performed at piston TDC when ALL VALVES ARE COMPLETELY CLOSED.
In this configuratin, the dot on the exhaust camshaft sprocket is at "9:00," pointing straight ahead, and the dot on the intake camshaft sprocket is about 3 degrees shy of "3:00."
The feeler gauge fits between the rocker arm set-screw and the valve stem.
The "T" on the flywheel shouldn't move during the procedure, but if it's CLOSE to the TDC position, no biggie.
Oh, and there are 43 cam chain pins between the "9:00" sprocket tooth and the top of the "3:00" sprocket tooth; the 44th cam chain pin is beneath the 3:00 sprocket tooth.
