Default Need help picking out chain and sprockets for 01 zx7r

I need a new chain and I am looking at getting new sprockets for my 2001 ZX7R. I have been searching around and have found a pretty good deal (at least that's what it seems to me). It's a Vortex Sprocket kit that comes with 15 teeth in front and 45 teeth in back with a GB520XSO X-ring chain.

My buddy has Vortex sprockets and he said they have been treating him good so far. I am not really familiar with what brands of chains and sprockets are of high quality so I am looking for some good advice.

Also if anyone could tell me what the stock sprocket teeth are for my bike would be helpful.

I am looking to increase my acceleration a bit for some extra performance, but not too much since I use the bike to commute to work and school so I don't want my mpg sinking to the ground.

Hi there. I think the chain and sprocket set that you have picked from Vortex, will be fine. I haven't yet found the stock numbers for the sprockets on your bike, but I will keep looking. You might want to check out Renthal chainwheels, and Tsubaki chains. I did, however, find a very interesting article about the same bike as you. They have taken a stock 2001 Kawasaki ZX7R and upgraded it to make it more competitive and to perform better. I have included the link at the top of this post. Also, don't forget to go to the ZX7R section on the Kawasaki' forum. There are people there who have the same bike as you do, and will be able to help you with any questions you have about the bike. Good luck, and I hope this helps you some.

I have not used the vortex sprockets yet on mine. I still have a tsubaki chain and sprocket specialites on the zx7. Normally changed them out yearly after a track season. Am using the D.I.D gold chain with the Supersprox trimetal on the 10r with good results. There are a lot of options out there, good luck.

Thanks for all the advice and help. I found the OEM sprockets to be 16/43. I think I might try out the Vortex set and see how it goes. The worst thing that can happen is having to change them next season.

Anyway... I am not too familiar with this forum. I was wondering where I can go to check out some parts that people are selling on here for my zx7r.

If you go to the main page and scroll down to the bottom of the page, there is a section for buying and selling parts, bikes and stuff. Here's the link:
