Does anyone else have a noise in there 900 motor after it has warmed up? It's a ticking like maybe a valve lifter. They told me at the dealer it's common in the 900's. Are there any adjustments in the engine that can be done? Thanks, Gary

[align=left]I have a VN900 that just started ticking or clicking a week or two ago. It is driving me CRAZY, I think it is embaressing. I have taken it to the dealer twice and they told me that it is normal. They said the techs at Kawasaki told them it may be the clean air solenoid (emissions device) making the noise. They are still deciding if they can find something to try. If anyone has any other ideas I can try to make this stop let me know please.

I have been around several vn900s and they all have the same ticking noise. What I have found is that this noise seems to decrease over time. I have 3500 miles on mine now and I have noticed a significany reduction in ticking and so has a friend of mine. Ride it like you stole it.

You know, I'm noticing the same ticking noise in my 900 as well. It seems to be a bit more pronounced than when I first got the bike but perhapse that's from it being broken in now. My father, who happens to be a mechanic, rode it for a while and said it seemed normal to him. He said that there's a lot of moving parts to the Kawi engine and some rattle or ticking shoudl be expected. We thought maybe the lifters needed some kind of adjustments but maybe since they're mechanical lifters instead of hydrolic, they make more noise. It is irretating though. I haven't taken it to the dealership yet but maybe I won't now that I know that it seems to be the normal noise for the 900. If the dealerships are saying that it's the normal noise than who am I to argue? One way to solve the problem is to get rid of the rediculously quiet pipes that came stock and throw some V&H pipes on there! The noise from the pipes will cover the ticking up.

Hi all you Vulcan fans.
I just purchased my 2007 Vulcan 900 Classic LT last September.
I also had a ticking noise that drove me crazy.
At first I was running (91) fuel and the noise was quite loud as well as the power seemed to be sluggish when I opened up the throttle. I have since changed to (87) and the ticking noise is almost completly dissapeared and the power has increased when opening the throttle wide open.
I read the manual that came with this bike and it says we can run anywhere from 87 to 91.
Hope this helps.
P.S. It could also be that I have just clicked over 8000 Klm or 5000 miles.
