Default zx600c fork swap

I picked up an old school '88 Ninja 600 for $700. It has a Supertrap 4-2-1 with K&N pods. I jetted it andhave put a newer rear suspension with 170/60-17 rubber - really fat for this bike. The bike is pretty fast and handles surprisingly well, but the forks are leaking and before I rebuild them I would love to know if anyone knows of a later model fork/triple/wheel combo that will fit this bike without too much trouble.

It would really help to get a 17" rim up there so I can have a better selection of tires and newer technology forks would not hurt. Any useful suggestions would be appreciated!

without changing out the triple tree, you should be able to measure the diameter of the fork tubes and compare to mid 90's ninja 600 models. i would imagine that you should be able to swap on one of them. after 2000 they switched to inverted forks and the clamps are different sizes.

I was thinking that I would probably have to change out the tree and all to get something that would fit. I guess I am asking what the chances are of finding another full front suspension that will attach to this frame. I can get these forks working well enough but I have a 17" rear rim with a big fat tire and it is hard to find a good match withthe 16" rim up front.

I know lots of people would say I should just buy a better bike but I am good at finding killer pricesor tradeson parts and I already have this bike and lots of spares (that plus 4 kids=no money to spare)
