I like the side mount because of using less pipe length and bends for the exhaust. It does get dinged if you fall over. I like the undertail because the exhaust is out of the way and plastics are cheaper to repair.

There is no better they both have ups n downs and each of us weigh those differently witch would contribute to are liking and individuality. I' writing a book on this...lol j/k

Undertail by far!! Looks WAY better, IMO. As far as heat is concerned, I'm with Mad Cow ... it's not that big of a difference. I think the underseat makes the bike look like a true race machine. Clean, sporty and aerodynamic.

I had a side exhaust on my 2000 Honda F4 with a Two Bros exhaust and will never go back to one again. (although it did sound awesome.

race machine huh? other than the ducati the undertail HINDERS performance...

my vote goes to the new stubby side exhausts (ie 06 r6 and gsxr)

Gotta go with the undertail. I have an 05. To me it's just a cleaner look and my girl won't burn her leg on the side mount exhaust like she did on the 96.
