Mule 550 starter or solenoid replacement
I've a '98 Mule 550 that won't start when the weather gets around 40 degrees F or colder
. I turn the key and the starter or solenoid clicks, but the starter won't spin. Battery is okay. Attaching jumper cables to the battery or directly to the starter/solenoid usually doesn't help. But, once in a while if I turn the key just right and find a sweet spot then it'll start. This happens only when the weather is cold. So, I'm going to replace the starter/solenoid but I can't get it off. There is a plastic T thing on the end that I think is engaged with something and I can't figure out how to get the old one off. Also, I don't know if this is the starter, solenoid, or both. Any help appreciated. If not the starter / solenoid, and suggestions why a temperature change is causing this problem. Other than this, this machine has been a real blessing. I mean to tell you, it's been great. Thanks, David
