I just got my 2001 STX 1100 DI out of storage. I was trying to start it but apparently the spark plugs were fouled with fogging oil. Anyway it backfired several times and then one really big one which blew a hole in the radiator type hose connector in the exhaust. Apparently the unburned fuel filled up in the exhaust and then let loose. I did put new plugs in and it starts and runs fine. Does anyone know if there is any concern over damaged parts outside of the obvious hose? I was wondering if this could have damaged a reed valve or something else. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve R.
