Default 1990 kawasaki ts 650 no spark help

hey guys!

i just bought a 1990 kawasaki ts 650.ok........bear with me.....i got this thing from my wifes uncle who does a lot of trading and so on.the guy he got it from said he went to put a new battery in it and connected the battery cables backwards.he then lost spark.i have not done anything yet to it and wanted to know if someone could tell me the very first thing they would do if it were there own.any steps i can bypass is always a plus, but not to say i am not willing to do what it takes to have her ready for this summer.he did give me a brand new manual with it,but you guys are so smart i just wanted to run it by you guys first.thank you all so much!!!!!! happy skiing!!!!!!

aww man.. when i used to see this on boats, it ALWAYS meant a new harness was needed..

chances are in this order...

1.main fuse popped
2.cdi fried
3.harness fried

theres literally anything that can happen in this situation.. it could be very simple and like i said, be a fuse.. easy fix and you're on your way.

might need to rewire the whole thing..
might need a new stator, reg/rectifier and CDI, but the wirings fine..

keep us posted man! sorry for the delay in a response.

welcome to KF!!!

if nothing else works, then your stator is shot.
