Default Oil choices for a old KZ

Hey folks,

I have a '77 KZ650 with a little over 20k and its getting close to an oil change. I've had it less than a year so this will be the first change I make on it. The previous owner said to use 15W50 but I cant rememer if it was sythetic or conventional. I was looking at getting Mobil 1 15W50 sythetic, but I have this inexplainable phobia with sythetic oil and I want to be careful since it's such an old ride.

Anyone have some words of wisdom on this? What would be the best thing to use? I want to take care of this thing as best I can.

Thanks in advance

I would be using regular (Not synthetic) oil. 10W40 would probably be a better choice. Castrol is a good "off the shelf" oil. Just don't buy oil labeled energy conserving oil. Motorcycle clutches do not like it.

Good luck, and welcome to the forums.

On that air cooled motor, I would use the 15w50 mobil one if it was mine. Combine that with the old Kawi 5 speed trannys, def 15w50. Mobil one 15w50 is a very good oil.
