Default zx9r question please help noobee

I just got my 2001 zx9r and i was wondering if there is supposed to be a stearing stabalizer on this bike? I dont have one and i was wondering if there was one from the factory or what not.

Also It seems like the valves on this bike are slapping alittle more then i would like. It has 2000 miles on it. Do i need an adjustment or do they normally slap loud? Its not too moud but loud enough to get someones attention.

No stabilizer from the factory. If it only has 2000 miles on it its probably normal.

I also have a 2001 zx9, bought it with 4700 miles on the clock. I also had a noisey topend, and an off idle stumble. Fixed the stumble by drilling out factory sealed mixture screws and setting them at 2 turns out. The factory manual calls for 1st valve adjustment at 7500 mi. I cked mine at 7100 miles because topend noise was increasing. ALL valves were tight. also during valve adjustment reset cam chain adjuster, I also installed a hindle can and midpipe with a factory Pro jet kit. As soon as my shims come in from kaw shop and she's back together I'll let you know if problem(noise) is corrected.

Got the shims in and fired the 9 up last night. Sounds good, slapping noise seems to be gone, but because of rain hav'nt been able to test ride. Hopefully this weekend I can test ride.
